A standalone development skill. Write Storybook stories for a component's meaningful user-facing states with minimal, readable fixtures. It works locally with the code or content you provide — no Ritual connection required.

Run it (local, no setup)

Work the steps below; you need nothing beyond the task in front of you.

  1. Infer the component's required props and meaningful states.
  2. Create stories for realistic user-facing states, not exhaustive combinatorial permutations.
  3. Cover default, loading, empty, error, disabled, long-content, and responsive states only when relevant.
  4. Keep fixtures minimal and readable; match the project's visible Storybook style.
  5. Add interaction/play tests only when behavior matters and conventions are visible.
  6. Verify by running Storybook, the interaction test, and a visual diff if available.

Done when: A story list with rationale, the story code, fixture notes, and the verification steps.

Working principles

Apply these throughout:

  • Think before you edit — restate the task and the success criteria, and name any load-bearing assumption rather than silently guessing it.
  • Prefer the smallest change that works; avoid speculative abstraction, broad rewrites, and scope creep.
  • Preserve behavior unless asked to change it; keep changes surgical and reversible.
  • Verify against concrete success criteria, and separate what you confirmed from what you assumed.
