Create and manage Google Slides presentations via the Slides API through a managed OAuth proxy.

What it does

Access the Google Slides API to create presentations, add slides with predefined layouts, insert text and images, create shapes, apply text styles, and replace template placeholders. Modifications are sent as batchUpdate requests that are applied atomically. All calls go through the Maton API proxy, which injects the OAuth token automatically. Requires the MATON_API_KEY environment variable and an active Google Slides OAuth connection managed through api.maton.ai.

Access the Google Slides API with managed OAuth authentication. Create and manage presentations, add slides, insert text and images, and control formatting.

Base URL

Maton proxies requests to slides.googleapis.com and automatically injects your OAuth token.

Authentication

All requests require the Maton API key in the Authorization header:

Authorization: Bearer $MATON_API_KEY

Environment Variable: Set your API key as MATON_API_KEY:

  1. Sign in or create an account at maton.ai
  2. Go to maton.ai/settings
  3. Copy your API key

Specifying Connection

If you have multiple Google Slides connections, specify which one to use with the Maton-Connection header:

If you have multiple connections, always include this header to ensure requests go to the intended account.

Security & Permissions

  • Access is scoped to presentations, slides, and slide content within the connected Google Slides account.
  • All write operations require explicit user approval. Before executing any create, update, or delete call, confirm the target resource and intended effect with the user.

Batch Update

The batchUpdate endpoint is used for most modifications. It accepts an array of requests that are applied atomically.

Notes

  • Object IDs must be unique within a presentation
  • Use batchUpdate for all modifications (adding slides, text, shapes, etc.)
  • Multiple requests in a batchUpdate are applied atomically
  • Sizes and positions use PT (points) as the unit (72 points = 1 inch)
  • Use replaceAllText for template-based presentation generation
  • IMPORTANT: When using curl commands, use curl -g when URLs contain brackets to disable glob parsing
  • IMPORTANT: When piping curl output to jq or other commands, environment variables like $MATON_API_KEY may not expand correctly in some shell environments. You may get "Invalid API key" errors when piping.

Troubleshooting: Invalid App Name

  1. Ensure your URL path starts with google-slides. For example:
  • Correct: https://api.maton.ai/google-slides/v1/presentations
  • Incorrect: https://api.maton.ai/slides/v1/presentations
