Route calls to third-party APIs through a managed gateway without handling OAuth or API keys yourself.
Integrations
Systeme.io
Try itProgrammatic access to Systeme.io contacts, tags, courses, communities, and subscriptions through managed OAuth.
What it does
Provides HTTP endpoints to read and manage Systeme.io contacts, tags, courses, communities, and subscriptions. Requests are proxied through a gateway that handles OAuth automatically; callers only supply a Bearer token from the MATON_API_KEY environment variable. Multiple Systeme.io connections can be targeted with the Maton-Connection header. Per the skill's security rules, every create, update, or delete call must be confirmed with the user before execution.
When to use it
- Listing and creating Systeme.io contacts
- Enrolling contacts into courses with full, partial, or dripping access
- Managing community memberships for a contact
- Assigning tags and custom fields to contacts
The skill document
Systeme.io
Access the Systeme.io API with managed OAuth authentication. Manage contacts, tags, courses, communities, and subscriptions.
Quick Start
# List contacts
python <<'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://api.maton.ai/systeme/api/contacts')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF
Base URL
https://api.maton.ai/systeme/{native-api-path}
Maton proxies requests to api.systeme.io and automatically injects your API key.
Authentication
All requests require the Maton API key in the Authorization header:
Authorization: Bearer $MATON_API_KEY
Environment Variable: Set your API key as MATON_API_KEY:
export MATON_API_KEY="YOUR_API_KEY"
Getting Your API Key
- Sign in or create an account at maton.ai
- Go to maton.ai/settings
- Copy your API key
Connection Management
Manage your Systeme.io connections at https://api.maton.ai.
List Connections
python <<'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://api.maton.ai/connections?app=systeme&status=ACTIVE')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF
Create Connection
python <<'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
data = json.dumps({'app': 'systeme'}).encode()
req = urllib.request.Request('https://api.maton.ai/connections', data=data, method='POST')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
req.add_header('Content-Type', 'application/json')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF
Get Connection
python <<'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://api.maton.ai/connections/{connection_id}')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF
Response:
{
"connection": {
"connection_id": "{connection_id}",
"status": "ACTIVE",
"creation_time": "2025-12-08T07:20:53.488460Z",
"last_updated_time": "2026-01-31T20:03:32.593153Z",
"url": "https://connect.maton.ai/?session_token=...",
"app": "systeme",
"metadata": {}
}
}
Open the returned url in a browser to complete OAuth authorization.
Delete Connection
python <<'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://api.maton.ai/connections/{connection_id}', method='DELETE')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF
Specifying Connection
If you have multiple Systeme.io connections, specify which one to use with the Maton-Connection header:
python <<'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://api.maton.ai/systeme/api/contacts')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
req.add_header('Maton-Connection', '{connection_id}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF
If you have multiple connections, always include this header to ensure requests go to the intended account.
Security & Permissions
- Access is scoped to contacts, tags, courses, communities, and subscriptions within the connected Systeme.io account.
- All write operations require explicit user approval. Before executing any create, update, or delete call, confirm the target resource and intended effect with the user.

Code Examples
JavaScript
const response = await fetch(
'https://api.maton.ai/systeme/api/contacts',
{
headers: {
'Authorization': `Bearer ${process.env.MATON_API_KEY}`
}
}
);
const data = await response.json();
Python
import os
import requests
response = requests.get(
'https://api.maton.ai/systeme/api/contacts',
headers={'Authorization': f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}'}
)
data = response.json()
Create Contact with Tag
import os
import requests
# Create contact
contact = requests.post(
'https://api.maton.ai/systeme/api/contacts',
headers={
'Authorization': f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}',
'Content-Type': 'application/json'
},
json={
'email': 'new@example.com',
'firstName': 'New',
'lastName': 'Contact'
}
).json()
# Assign tag
requests.post(
f'https://api.maton.ai/systeme/api/contacts/{contact["id"]}/tags',
headers={
'Authorization': f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}',
'Content-Type': 'application/json'
},
json={'tagId': 12345}
)
Notes
- Systeme.io uses API key authentication (passed as
X-API-Keyheader natively) - Maton automatically handles auth header transformation
- Use
application/merge-patch+jsoncontent type for PATCH requests - Contact, tag, course, and enrollment IDs are numeric integers
- Rate limits are enforced via
X-RateLimit-*headers - Systeme.io validates email domains - only real email addresses with valid MX records are accepted
- The subscriptions endpoint (
/api/payment/subscriptions) may return 404 if payment features are not configured - IMPORTANT: When using curl commands, use
curl -gwhen URLs contain brackets to disable glob parsing - IMPORTANT: When piping curl output to
jqor other commands, environment variables like$MATON_API_KEYmay not expand correctly in some shell environments
Error Handling
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| 400 | Missing Systeme.io connection or bad request |
| 401 | Invalid or missing Maton API key |
| 429 | Rate limited (check Retry-After header) |
| 4xx/5xx | Passthrough error from Systeme.io API |
Troubleshooting: API Key Issues
- Check that the
MATON_API_KEYenvironment variable is set:
echo $MATON_API_KEY
- Verify the API key is valid by listing connections:
python <<'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://api.maton.ai/connections')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF
Troubleshooting: Invalid App Name
- Ensure your URL path starts with
systeme. For example:
- Correct:
https://api.maton.ai/systeme/api/contacts - Incorrect:
https://api.maton.ai/api/contacts
