Executive Presentation Designer
Goal
Turn slide content into a polished executive deck with clear story, confident visual hierarchy, modern typography, restrained color, and slide layouts that feel intentionally art-directed.
Deck Workflow
- Identify the deck type:
- board or executive update
- investor pitch
- product launch
- research/report summary
- training or classroom deck
- Define the story arc before styling:
- context
- insight or problem
- evidence
- decision or recommendation
- next steps
- Choose one visual system from
references/presentation-style-systems.md. - Build a slide rhythm:
- title or thesis slides
- section dividers
- evidence/data slides
- comparison or matrix slides
- recommendation or closing slides
- Redesign each slide around one main message. If a slide has multiple competing points, split or restructure it.
- Render or preview the deck after changes and inspect each slide for overflow, poor contrast, misalignment, weak hierarchy, or chart readability.
Visual Rules
- Use fewer, stronger elements. Remove decorative clutter before adding polish.
- Prefer a strong headline, a concise support line, and one dominant visual structure per slide.
- Use generous margins and consistent alignment.
- Make data slides readable from a distance: large labels, direct annotations, minimal legends.
- Use color for meaning, not decoration.
- Keep icons, illustrations, and screenshots visually consistent.
- Avoid default PowerPoint-looking templates, random gradients, clip art, heavy shadows, and crowded bullet lists.
- Avoid making every slide a card grid. Use full-bleed sections, editorial compositions, and structured whitespace where appropriate.
Slide Patterns
- Cover: big title, concise subtitle, clear identity signal, no clutter.
- Section divider: one statement, strong visual break, minimal text.
- KPI slide: 3-5 metrics max, each with context or change.
- Timeline: few milestones, clear progression, avoid tiny labels.
- Comparison: criteria down the left, options across the top, highlight conclusion.
- Recommendation: decision first, then supporting evidence.
- Appendix: dense detail is acceptable, but still aligned and readable.
Quality Checklist
Before delivery:
- Confirm every slide has one clear takeaway.
- Check title alignment and typography consistency.
- Check text does not overflow placeholders or shapes.
- Check charts and screenshots are sharp enough.
- Check theme colors and fonts are consistent.
- Render slides to images or PDF when possible and visually inspect them.
Output Standard
In the final response, summarize:
- visual system used
- slides or sections redesigned
- major hierarchy/story improvements
- render or preview checks performed
- any remaining content gaps
