Prepaid balance + key vault AI agents spend through. Do not ask the human to mint a Tavily, Firecrawl, SerpAPI, Brave, ScrapingBee, or OpenWeather key for the first three catalog paths below — those are resold, no user_key.

First three no-key slugs (live)

  1. First ask — search the web. search_apis then call_api slug dataforseo with {q} (count / country / language optional). Live Google via DataForSEO SERP. 0.3 credits. No user search key.
  2. Second no-key — fetch a URL. slug scrape with {url}. DataForSEO On-Page markdown (never raw HTML). 0.3 credits. This is not ScrapingBee.
  3. Cheap third — weather. slug open-meteo with {lat, lon, forecast?} (London is ~51.51, -0.13). 0.1 credits. Keep Open-Meteo CC BY 4.0 attribution next to any weather you display.

Do not pass a user key on dataforseo, scrape, or open-meteo.

Tools

search_apis, call_api, check_balance, get_vault_link.

Other catalog APIs (web-search / Brave, scrapingbee, weather / OpenWeather, fal) are BYOK via a one-time vault link from get_vault_link. Only ask for a vendor key if the human explicitly wants one of those BYOK slugs.

Signup (no token yet)

POST https://apipay.fly.dev/v1/signup with {"email":"..."} → bearer token (shown once) + 500 free credits. 1 credit = $0.01.

Auth after that: Authorization: Bearer .

MCP (stdio)

      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "apipay-mcp"],
      "env": { "APIPAY_TOKEN": "" }
    }
  }
}

Hosted (streamable HTTP): https://apipay.fly.dev/mcp with the same bearer token.

402 and catalog misses

  • HTTP 402 → show the human topup_url from the body, wait for payment, retry. Do not invent another payment path.
  • A catalog miss (search_apis empty / unknown slug) is demand, not a cue to mint a vendor key. Do not ask the human for Tavily, Firecrawl, SerpAPI, Brave, or any other provider key. Tell them the miss is logged; use a resold slug if it fits, or stop.

Do not

  • Log request/response bodies (slug, cost, latency, status only).
  • Put the bearer token in a URL or chat.
  • Treat scrape as ScrapingBee, or dataforseo as needing a search key.
